Roulette
This game of chance is perhaps the most iconic of all the famous casino games. In a game of roulette, a table top wheel, with numbered and coloured pockets around its inner circumference, is spun, and a ball bearing is sent spinning above these pockets. After a while, the ball loses momentum and falls into one of the pockets. Players can bet on where they think the ball is going to land, with either a long-odds inside bet on a single number or small group of numbers, or a short-odds outside bet on a large range of numbers, such as 1-18, or a colour. There are 18 red numbers, 18 black numbers, and one or two green zeroes, depending on the version of the game being played. While you can make inside bets on the green zeroes, you cannot make outside bets, and it is this that gives the casino a statistical edge.
Blackjack
Unlike roulette, blackjack is a game that requires a degree of skill and judgement on the part of the player, rather than just blind luck. In a game of blackjack, the players and the dealer are dealt a pair of cards. There are then two rounds of play, in which all the contestants have to decide whether to take another card or stick with what they have. The hand that wins is the one with a card total as close to 21 as possible, without exceeding this amount.
Baccarat
There are many versions of this card game out there, but the most popular version in online casinos is called mini punto banco baccarat. In this version, two pairs of cards are dealt, and the players have to bet on the hand they think is more likely to win. A further card is then dealt, and sometimes another, depending on whether certain conditions are met, and the hand whose card total has the highest last number is declared the winner. For example, a hand of 17, with the last digit being 7, would beat a hand of 23.
